An Indonesian woman was fined BND63,340 after pleading guilty to possessing smuggled cigarettes.
Lilik Anggraini, 40, would have to serve 13 months’ imprisonment in default of payment of the fine.
She was charged under Section 146(1)(d) of the Excise Order 2006.Sitting in the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court, Magistrate Sharifah Nur Baqiyah Malai Shahran heard that the offence took place on May 6, 2026 at a residence along Jalan Pasir Berakas.
A total of 178 cartons and 11 packets of cigarettes of various brands were seized during the operation.
All seized items were ordered to be forfeited and handed over to the Government for disposal.
