Two companies have ceased the unauthorised parking and storage of heavy vehicles and machinery on residential lots in Mukim Pengkalan Batu following enforcement action by the Planning Authority.
The companies had used the premises for parking and storage without obtaining planning permission, in contravention of section 23(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act (Chapter 248).

The Planning Authority said such activities were incompatible with approved residential land use and could affect residents’ wellbeing, pose safety risks, increase noise and traffic disturbances, and damage public roads and infrastructure.
Both companies have since relocated their operations to a designated industrial area in compliance with planning requirements.
The Planning Authority reminded the public that development or a change in land use without prior planning permission constitutes an offence under section 23 of the Act.

Offenders face a fine of up to BND200,000 and, for a continuing offence, an additional fine of up to BND10,000 for each day the offence continues after conviction.
Members of the public seeking planning advice or wishing to lodge a complaint may contact the Town and Country Planning Department hotline at 8200222.
