
The Magistrate’s Court today ordered a 23-year-old permanent resident to settle a fine of BND5,592 after pleading guilty to possessing excisable goods without lawful authority.
Lim Wei Sheng would have to serve five months’ jail in default of payment of the fine.
Magistrate Sharifah Nur Baqiyah Malai Shahran heard from the Customs prosecutor that the offence occurred on March 22, 2021 at about 12.00am at a junction along Kampong Lumapas, following an operation by officers from the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
Enforcement officers seized 84 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages along with a Rover 600 motor vehicle used in committing the offence.
All seized items, including the liquor and the vehicle, were ordered forfeited to the Government for further action.
