Vape possession offence draws BND12K fine

A 36-year-old local man was ordered to settle a BND12,450 fine, or risk serving a year’s jail in default of payment of the fine, after pleading guilty to possessing smuggled vape products.

Mohamad Nazirul Hafidz bin Hamdan was arrested in an operation conducted by officers from the Law Enforcement Division (Belait District Branch) of the Royal Customs and Excise Department, Magistrate Muhammad Qamarul Affyian Abdul Rahman at the Kuala Belait Court heard earlier today.

The Customs prosecutor further revealed that the defendant was found in possession of 76 units of assorted vape products at a residence along Jalan Rotan Gatah, RPN Kampong Lumut on February 15, 2025 at about 12.52pm.

All seized vape products were ordered forfeited to the Government for disposal.
