Following inspections conducted by the Planning Authority on March 4, two companies were issued compound fines for violating the Town and Country Planning (Composition of Offences) Regulations 2018.

The offences involved placing and displaying goods on sidewalks, creating hazards for the public due to slippery and unhygienic conditions. Such activities also affect the aesthetic value and overall appearance of commercial areas. Each offence carries a fine of up to BND500, with a seven-day period from the date of issuance to settle the penalties.

The Planning Authority, through the Department of Town and Country Planning under the Ministry of Development, reminded the public—especially business and industrial premises owners—to comply with planning laws to ensure the cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal of commercial areas in the country. For further inquiries, members of the public may contact the Department of Town and Country Planning hotline at 8200 222.
