The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has alerted the public to an ongoing phone scam involving individuals falsely claiming to be ACB officers.
The bureau said it has received reports of members of the public being contacted by scammers who claim their bank accounts have been flagged for suspicious criminal activity.
To create a sense of urgency, the callers request personal and banking information, particularly identity card and bank account numbers.
The ACB advised the public not to disclose banking or financial information over the phone.
The bureau said its official telephone numbers are published on its website and are used when contacting members of the public. Anyone receiving calls from other numbers claiming to be ACB officers is urged to report the incident to the Royal Brunei Police Force’s Anti-Scam Helpline at 16993.
Those who have already disclosed their financial or banking information are advised to contact their financial institutions immediately.
