Customs seizes cigarettes, alcohol and boats in Kampong Menunggol operation

The Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED), through its Law Enforcement Division, conducted a joint integrated operation with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) on Saturday in Kampong Menunggol.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,110 cartons of cigarettes, 108 bottles and two cans of alcoholic beverages, as well as two boats with engines believed to have been used for smuggling activities.

All seized items were confiscated and taken to the Law Enforcement Office for further investigation.

The RCED reminded the public to comply with the law, including refraining from possessing, selling, or purchasing prohibited and restricted customs goods. Offenders may face action under the Customs Order 2006 and Excise Order 2006.

The department also expressed appreciation to members of the public for providing information and cooperation, and encouraged further reporting of offences via 8714422, 8721422 or at the nearest customs office.
