An unauthorised woodworking factory in Kampong Mulaut, Mukim Sengkurong has ceased operations and demolished its illegal structure after being ordered by the Planning Authority to stop activities conducted without planning permission.
The factory was found operating in a residential zone considered unsuitable for industrial activities.
The site was also described as unorganised and hazardous, with structures erected for woodworking activities without the required planning permission.
The Planning Authority ordered the landowner to discontinue the activities, demolish the unauthorised structure and clean up the area.
During routine monitoring and inspection, the landowner complied with the order and ceased the woodworking activities, demolished the structure and cleared the site.
The activities and construction of the structures constituted an offence under Section 23(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 248, which requires planning permission for development and certain works.
A person convicted of an offence under the provision may be fined up to BND200,000, with a further fine of up to BND10,000 for every day the offence continues after conviction.
The public is reminded to comply with planning laws and to obtain the necessary permission before carrying out development or related works.
